Color photography began to be widely popularized during the 1960s and 70s, and we're used to seeing history before that point in black and white. But color has been reproduced for much longer than that. Early experiments were made shortly after the invention of photography itself in the early 1800s, and one of the most successful and beautiful methods, the autochrome, was launched on the market in 1907.
